Lastminute.com Chooses Translations.com as Preferred Localization Partner for Multilingual Website Content

PRESS RELEASE: Translations.com, a division of TransPerfect, the world’s largest privately held provider of language services and translation-related technologies announced an engagement with lastminute.com, a worldwide leader in the online travel industry, to support their multilingual strategy initially in four new languages—Spanish, French, Italian, and German.

To align with lastminute.com’s strategic efforts to increase direct hotel bookings across all points of sale, Translations.com localized 2,500 online hotel descriptions in four new languages in less than 15 weeks by using an innovative workflow involving trained machine translation (MT) and human review to ensure quality.

The newly translated languages reflect the top four non-English-speaking markets that book on lastminute.com’s multiple websites.

According to Neal Watson, Director, Global Account Management for Hotel Partnerships, “Our aim was to reduce the internal burden on my team by outsourcing the translation tasks. As a result, the team has been able to focus on adding more value to our existing hotel chains as well as speed up the activation process for new properties. The innovative solution that Translations.com offered us allowed us to match our requirements to a service level and price that made sense for us.”

TransPerfect Co-CEO Liz Elting said, “For more than a decade, lastminute.com has powered online travelers with amazing travel experiences. We’re very proud to support their multilingual strategy with solutions to increase productivity, client satisfaction, and business value. We look forward to the journey ahead.”

Phil Shawe, Co-CEO at TransPerfect, commented, “We’re pleased to offer lastminute.com convenient and reliable language solutions tailored for their specific business needs and that benefit them by improving their ability to reach customers. We’re proud to play an active role in their goal of connecting users with endless hotel options in their languages of choice.”
