Plantronics, an audio pioneer and unified communications (UC) technology leader announced Tom Puorro is joining the company as Executive Vice President, General Manager, Group Systems. In this role, Puorro will lead the team responsible for audio and video collaboration solutions for the modern workplace.

“Tom’s deep knowledge and passion for the UC business make him a tremendous addition to our leadership and product teams,” said Joe Burton, Plantronics President and Chief Executive Officer. “His experience will help us execute our vision and grow our position as the communications and collaboration partner of choice.”

“The UC industry is exploding and driving demand for easier and more consistent experiences across meeting rooms of all sizes and shapes,” said Puorro. “Plantronics is uniquely positioned to meet the market needs of our global customers with a broad and growing portfolio.”

As the VP, Engineering at Cisco, Puorro oversaw the company’s video and voice endpoints, including all video phones, telepresence, and Tandberg, and led Cisco’s acquisition of Broadsoft.
