Aculab strives for the highest international standard in information security

Aculab, a prominent worldwide provider of advanced speech and signal processing technologies for the telecommunication industry, is pleased to announce that they have been recommended for ISO 27001 accreditation.

This announcement comes following the successful implementation of their Information Security Management System (ISMS) and completion of an intensive auditing process.

As the world moves further into the digital era, the upholding of positive standards of information security in business has become more important than ever before. The 2020 Cyber Security Breaches Survey reported that 46% of businesses this past year have seen cyber security breaches and attacks. The global average cost of a single data breach has already reached $3.86 million according to ITGovernance.co.uk.

In the current climate, as coronavirus has caused a vast increase in the use of online communication and document preparation tools, this presents many more opportunities for data breaches and attacks. It’s therefore surprising that only 15% of businesses have considered the risks they are exposed to through their immediate suppliers and only 9% have considered effects due to their wider supply chain. This suggests that most businesses will still be vulnerable to data breaches through inadequate vetting of the businesses in their own supply chain.

However, following Aculab’s accreditation under ISO 27001:2013, organisations can now demonstrate their own commitment to security by selecting Aculab as a partner.

Aculab’s ISMS:

  • Provides assurance within the company and to our customers, business partners and suppliers that the availability, integrity and confidentiality of their information will be maintained
  • Manages information security risks to all company and customer assets
  • Allows information security decisions and investments to be based on risk assessment of relevant assets considering Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA)
  • Raises and maintains awareness of all employees so they can identify and fulfil contractual, legislative and company specific security management responsibilities.

The measures outlined in Aculab’s latest Information Security Management System include the implementation of an Access Control Policy, the screening of employees joining the company, enforcing security around the physical premises, and more.
