Virgin Group launches Workvivo to bring together 60,000 employees on one platform

Virgin Group has launched employee experience platform Workvivo to 60,000 employees across almost 40 Virgin companies in a move to connect them like never before.

Virgin Group has always strived to truly connect employees across its brands under one umbrella to strengthen culture and foster connection to the Virgin purpose and values. The new “Virgin Family” platform powered by Workvivo is a unique move to connect a multi-brand company in one place with communication and engagement at the core.

Virgin employees will be able to access their company news, shout-outs from their colleagues, community spaces and exclusive insight into other Virgin companies around the globe, all in one app. All Virgin employees have a voice on the Virgin Family platform – whether they work in the CEO’s office, in the cockpit of a plane or in a restaurant on a ship.

Nikki Humphrey, Chief People Officer at the Virgin Group, said: “We’re delighted to have partnered with Workvivo to create Virgin Family and connect our 60,000 colleagues across the globe. Having connection and collaboration opportunities at our fingertips, really has brought our people closer together. Not only that, but it’s helping us to drive an extraordinary people experience where people can develop, connect with like-minded colleagues across the world, and personalise the platform according to their interests.”

Speaking about the launch, John Goulding, Workvivo’s founder, said: “We all know Virgin for its innovation and market disruption. With ‘Virgin Family’ they are challenging the status quo, doing something very different to a traditional employee platform and giving all employees a voice. What they have done with the thoughtful branding is truly world class and it’s been inspiring to see them make this platform their own.”

In today’s complex environment, organizations will survive or thrive based on their talent and employee engagement strategies. Organizations like Virgin Group are leading the way by investing in their employee experience and it’s great to already see the impact in terms of social connection, collaboration and engagement with the company culture and news.”

  • Wiggle Room: A fun space where all Virgin employees’ can share their furry friends and family.

How Virgin is leveraging Workvivo:

Social connection and engagement

This is the first time employees across the Group can connect in this way, sharing their interests, their pets as well as their work projects. With “Virgin Family”, the Virgin Group is connecting employees to their purpose, their brand and – most importantly – each other.

Brand and culture

The “Virgin Family” Workvivo platform was designed with a strong focus on brand to make employees feel a part of the family. Aiming to get employees closer to the brand, the Virgin Group developed a story behind the platform, “tone of voice” guidelines and creative and playful concepts consistent with the Virgin branding throughout.

Leadership and inspiration

As a founder-driven organization, Virgin Group’s leadership has a strong presence on the “Virgin Family” Workvivo platform. Leadership can now connect with employees globally in a personal, interactive way on the platform, giving employees a greater sense of belonging.

Circles of connection

Using the Spaces feature on Workvivo, employees can set up internal groups and micro communities to find their tribe. Virgin Group has created new Spaces to connect professional cohorts to learn from each other, share best practice and grow their networks. A space for all Chief People Officers across the Group, for instance, is an opportunity for these executives to support and inspire each other.
